After his release from Mandos, Celegorm renews his relationship with Orome.

Request: Celegorm/Orome at some point AFTER the Oath. I don't mind how far after... even if it's at the end of Arda!

Thank you so much for this lovely fic! I do love a reformed Celegorm and you managed to do it without changing who he at the core, which is just as it should be. Orome was wonderful, and his love for Celegorm just shines through. The two of them work so very well together. I especially loved the touch of the bow-pin. It was beautifully written and I loved all the little details - Especially why Orome didn't stop him from swearing the oath and how they first met.

I will definitely be saving and re-reading this. :)

Thanks again,

Tux

Author's Response:

And thanks for your lovely response, Tuxedo Elf. After reading all the things Celegorm got up to I wasn't sure about him, but I could see he had a lot of admirable qualities too which could have been turned to good had the situation been othewise. I like writing the Valar and attributing motives to some of their actions so I'm glad you liked his portrayal as well. I'm glad you liked the pin too. When someone makes a request for a specific item like that I try to include it in a special way. I very much appreciate your comments and I'm especially happy the story is one you can enjoy repeatedly. :-)

Mmmm, Rumil/Twins, how delightful! Loved the angst - poor Rumil, not able to say goodbye to his lovers or his home. I am so glad they were reunited and I hope Celmir found someone nice too. :)

Author's Response:

I loved writing this story. Not being able to say goodbye was very hard indeed, but things did work out in the end. Celmir did find someone nice ... (not telling ...)

I love your Erestor, I really do. He's so real and accessible. You feel comfortable going along with him for the story. He's intelligent and witty without being annoying and I enjoyed watching him skillfully balance the dual life he ended up leading.

Gil-galad is wonderful too, down-to-earth, likes who he likes and doesn't care what people think about that. Though I have a bizarre desire to see him in lavender. ;)

The chemistry between them is wonderful, definitely not over-fluffy, just very clear and warm and comfortable. They keep their secret without any real drama, just letting things be - and that was wonderful to read.
And the end was just perfect. I was glad you didn't go into Gil-galad's death, but moved past it, into the happily ever after they deserved. This line: The luck held true, and the love was forever was completely perfect. Not overly fluffy, just - right. :)

Author's Response:

Firstly, thank you for liking my elves, and for telling me how they seem to you. I write them, I know what I see, I have no idea whether I get that across, so when I get a review like this it's really satisfying and smiley and happy.  Gil, by the way, has quite the wrong skin tone for lavender… makes him look vaguely like he's in drag.

I didn't think they'd be people who'd milk a situation for its drama. They're both practical realists at heart, and the situation was what it was - no point in fussing. As Erestor said, he didn't need a trophy to display. I think later Gil might have resented the need for silence more.

The happy ending - could not resist. Always get the 'oh poor Erestor/whoever, Gil will die eventually' comment, and this time decided I was heading it off at the pass. That line does sort of sum it up :) He deserved his happy ending, they both did :D

Not fluffy? Bless you, thank you SO MUCH. You know how nervous fluff makes me, lol.

Not saying a word about you loving Erestor. Not. One. Word.

*loves*

You worry too much. :)

I loved the steady progression of it all... you really captured the changing of the seasons and of Glorfindel. It was all pleasant and unhurried and very natural. Watching him learn who he is was a delight and I love the idea of him as an artist. It just fits. Was rather taken ny his menagerie too!

Really liked Gildor and was admittedly rather sad to watch them grow apart, despite how naturally it happened and how right it ended up being. I was glad to see them remain as friends and that he accepted who Glorfindel needed.

Erestor surprised me, though yours usually does! ;) I hadn't seen him as an active warrior in the third age, though it makes sense now I think about it! I liked how you balanced him - a warrior, but with dignity and patience and the good sense to wait until Glorfindel was ready. Oh and I *loved* that his father was not only alive, but in the same realm!

The short version of all this is - you did great! ;)

Tux

Author's Response:

My personal favourite touch was Erestor's father. Not just alive and present, not just a rather ordinary elf, but a LIBRARIAN. It just happened of itself, I watched the words appear and started giggling. Just felt soooo right.

I liked Erestor as head of the Imladris military. I cast around for another title or rank, but Captain of Imladris is such a time-honoured role in fandom ---- no, not poking fun, just liked bringing in the familiar touches just slightly skewed. It's actually a more logical role for him in my personal universe, which I didn't realise till I wrote this. Need to think about it.....

And I am so glad you liked the pace. And Glorfindel - I was rather in love with the introspective painter with the owl on the bookcase. And Gildor :D You're not the only one who was a little sorry they didn't work out. My beta passed comments....

Short version --- Thanks for all the support, dear. I'm thrilled you liked the final result. And thank you for a lovely review.

Thank you so much for this, Agie! I loved all the little details, especially Orophin not seeing the point in washing his hands, the tea ceremony and the lovely touch of the brother's parents still being alive.

I love that Galion is an artist and that it's the painting that brings them together.

I've never seen these two together before so I had no idea if they'd really work, but you made them mesh wonderfully as a couple. I like that they didn't rush and that there's still so much to come for them. :)

Author's Response:

Thank you so much, Tux - I'm very glad you liked it.  I saw who I'd written it for and panicked!  I thought, "Oh, no - my stuff is too sweet for Tux!"  They are certainly a very unusual couple and you really challenged me with the request.  I did enjoy being able to make Galion into whomever I liked.
